The shield is elaborately mantled with decorative foliage. A partial circular legend in Latin surrounds the arms reading ALBERTVS · ET · ELISABET · D : G, identifying the joint rulers Archduke Albert and Archduchess Isabella as sovereigns by divine grace. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan and bold but slightly off-center strike typical of hammered billon coinage of the early seventeenth-century Low Countries. |
