| Beschrijving keerzijde | A stacked three-line or four-line votive legend arranged within the coin's field, enclosed by a wreath border — a design characteristic of Ostrogothic fractional silver coinage of the mid-sixth century. The legend reads D N BADV / ILA REX in neat, well-spaced capital letters, asserting the royal authority of Baduila (also known as Totila), king of the Ostrogoths. The wreath surround is composed of stylized beaded or leaf elements typical of the hammered silver issues of this period. The reverse carries no figurative imagery, relying entirely on the epigraphic legend as its principal design element. |
