背面描述 Central field features the royal monogram of Theoderic composed of the letters R and D in interlaced form, set within a beaded or plain inner circle and enclosed by a finely rendered laurel wreath. The monogram, occupying the entirety of the reverse, asserts Ostrogothic royal authority while maintaining the outward trappings of Roman imperial coinage. No additional legend is present.

附加信息

Amalasuntha's position was precarious from the moment her father Theoderic died in 526. She ruled as regent for her son Athalaric and, following his death in 534, briefly as co-ruler with her cousin Theodahad — who had her strangled on an island in Lake Bolsena in 535. This coin was struck in that narrow, violent window. Justinian used her murder as a pretext for launching the Gothic War, making these issues among the last Ostrogothic coins produced before the Italian reconquest began dismantling the kingdom entirely.
