Bindraban — more commonly rendered as Brindaban or Vrindavan — was a small talukdari estate in the North-Western Provinces, not a recognized princely state with treaty rights, which makes its coinage an anomaly. The 1858–59 dates land squarely on the transfer of authority from the East India Company to the Crown following the Revolt of 1857, a period of administrative chaos during which local chiefs occasionally pressed their advantage and struck coins before British oversight tightened.
KM#16 is among the scarcer issues from this obscure issuer. Surviving specimens rarely appear at auction.
