| Obverse description | Central field bears a multi-line Persian legend in Naskh script, much of which typically falls off the flan due to the small flan diameter relative to the die. The legend reads: 'Sikka zad bar haft kishwar saya fazl Ilah Hami ud-din Muhammad Shah Alam Badshah,' meaning 'Defender of the faith of Muhammad, Shah Alam Emperor, Shadow of Divine Favour, struck his coin on the seven climes,' accompanied by the AH regnal date. The inscription is arranged in a traditional Mughal format across the coin's face, with no figurative imagery, consistent with Islamic numismatic convention. |
