| Aanvullende informatie |
Sinaloa was one of several Mexican states that filled a chronic shortage of small federal copper coinage by issuing its own fractional pieces during the mid-nineteenth century. The federal government repeatedly attempted to suppress these regional emissions, viewing them as an affront to centralized monetary authority, yet practical necessity kept them circulating for decades. Sinaloa's issues persisted well past the Reform War and into the French Intervention period, which explains the unusually long emission window for a single type.
