Ferdinand II issued this fraction during the period when Aragonese monetary policy was being quietly subordinated to the demands of the newly unified Castilian-Aragonese crown. The quart de real occupied the lowest tier of Aragonese silver, and surviving examples from the 1480s are notably scarce — production volumes were modest and the coin's size made it vulnerable to loss and to being swept up in later recoinage drives.
The Crusafont reference places this among a tightly documented but physically rare group.
