Reverse description Central shield bearing the pallets of Aragon — vertical stripes on a plain field — surmounted by an ornate cross pattée with annulets at the terminals, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The heraldic composition is characteristic of Aragonese royal coinage struck at the Zaragoza mint during the reign of Ferdinand II. The reverse legend, rendered in Gothic uncial lettering and running around the outer border, reads ARAGONVM VALEN I C, identifying the monarch's principal titles and the mint city of Zaragoza.
