The heraldic composition is characteristic of Aragonese royal coinage struck at the Zaragoza mint during the reign of Ferdinand II. The reverse legend, rendered in Gothic uncial lettering and running around the outer border, reads ARAGONVM VALEN I C, identifying the monarch's principal titles and the mint city of Zaragoza. |
