Beschrijving voorzijde Four lines of Burmese script inscription occupy the central field, arranged horizontally within a circular border. The legends are rendered in traditional Burmese characters and record the royal authority of King Bodawpaya. The script fills the flan in a compact, orderly arrangement typical of Konbaung Dynasty coinage. The overall design is plain, with no additional ornamental devices or symbols flanking the inscription.

Aanvullende informatie

Bodawpaya seized the Burmese throne in 1782 by executing his nephew and most of the Konbaung nobility in a purge that left few rivals standing. His coinage reforms came quickly — this large-planchet copper issue was among the earliest monetary output of a reign that would last 37 years and see Burma expand aggressively into Arakan and Manipur. The KM#2.2 designation distinguishes it from the smaller planchet variety, a production distinction likely tied to inconsistent copper supply rather than deliberate policy.
