Obverse description At the centre of the obverse, a quartered shield of the royal arms of England and France is set within a cusped tressure, with lis ornamenting the cusps and a crescent at the top. The entire design is enclosed within an inner beaded circle. The surrounding legend in Gothic Latin letters reads: +hENRICVS x DI x GRA x AnGL x Z x FRA, proclaiming Henry as King of England and France by the Grace of God. The coin is struck in the heavy coinage style characteristic of Henry IV's early reign, with bold, deeply impressed dies typical of London Mint production.

Reverse description The reverse features a floriated cross with a pellet at its centre, with leopards of England placed in the four angles between the arms of the cross. The entire composition is contained within a cusped tressure, itself set inside an inner beaded circle. The outer field carries a Latin legend in Gothic lettering reading + EXALTABITVR x IN x GLORIA x, a devotional inscription drawn from the Psalms meaning 'He shall be exalted in glory.' The overall design closely follows the established quarter noble type, with crisp Gothic craftsmanship consistent with the London Mint's heavy coinage standard.
