| Beschrijving keerzijde | Reverse of this hammered quarter-mithqal gold coin displays the Shi'a kalima in bold Arabic calligraphy divided across two principal registers within a central cartouche. The upper register bears the shahada profession of faith, while the lower register carries the declaration of Ali as the friend of God (علی ولی الله), a hallmark of Safavid Twelver Shi'a coinage. The field surrounding the cartouche is filled with the continuation of the inscriptions in a circular arrangement. The strike is characteristic of Safavid hammered technique with natural flan irregularities. |
