| Descrizione del dritto | Central field bears the elaborate tughra of Sultan Mahmud II, the 22nd Ottoman Caliph, set within a circular cartouche. The tughra, rendered in finely detailed calligraphic form, dominates the design with its characteristic interlaced loops and upswept finials. The cartouche is surrounded by an ornate border of sinuous vine-like scrollwork and foliate arabesques extending to the coin's irregular periphery. The overall decorative treatment reflects the Ottoman hammered gold coin tradition of the early 19th century. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Central field contains a four-line Arabic inscription within an oval cartouche divided by a horizontal bar, stating the regnal year (٢٢), the mint formula 'struck in Egypt' (ضرب في مصر), and the accession date AH 1223. The cartouche is enclosed by an elaborate border of curling vine scrolls and arabesques in the same decorative style as the obverse, framed at the outermost edge by a continuous row of small beads. The composition is characteristic of Egyptian Ottoman gold coinage of the reign of Mahmud II. |
