Obverse description Central device featuring a crowned double-headed eagle displayed, with a heraldic shield superimposed on its breast. The eagle's two crowned heads face outward to left and right respectively, rendered in the bold, slightly angular style characteristic of late medieval hammered coinage. The central shield bears the arms of Savoy. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle, surrounded by a beaded border, with a partially legible Latin legend in uncial characters running around the periphery.
