Aanvullende informatie

Joseph I inherited the Bohemian crown as part of the Habsburg composite monarchy and ruled during the War of the Spanish Succession, a conflict that strained imperial finances considerably. The Prague mint continued striking fractional gold throughout this period, partly to service the needs of court and merchant transactions that base-metal coinage could not efficiently handle.

Diet#952 is a recognized rarity in the quarter-ducat series for this reign. Joseph died in April 1711 from smallpox at thirty-two, making his Prague issues a compressed run of just six years.
