Surrounding the bird are sprays of Oklahoma's state wildflower, the Indian Blanket (Gaillardia), shown in bloom on both sides of the composition. The state name OKLAHOMA arcs along the upper rim, with the date 1907—commemorating Oklahoma's year of statehood—inscribed directly below.
