| Popis rubu | Frederick Douglass, the renowned abolitionist, author, and statesman, is depicted seated at a writing desk in three-quarter view, pen in hand, evoking his legacy as a prolific writer and orator. His historic home, Cedar Hill, located in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington, DC, is rendered in the background. The inscription FREDERICK DOUGLASS arcs prominently across the upper field, with DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA along the lower rim and the date 2017 positioned within the design. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM appears in the field, and a mint mark is present below the design. The composition, engraved by Phebe Hemphill, was issued as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. |
