| 正面描述 | Left-facing portrait bust of George Washington after the 1932 design by sculptor John Flanagan, based on Jean-Antoine Houdon's life mask. The effigy occupies the central field with the legend LIBERTY arching above and the date and mint mark below the truncation. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST appears to the left of Washington's portrait, while UNITED STATES OF AMERICA curves along the upper periphery and QUARTER DOLLAR is inscribed along the lower rim. The initials JF appear at the base of the neck truncation. This obverse design, restored to emphasize the subtle modelling of the original Houdon source, was introduced in 2010. |

El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest system, and its selection for the America the Beautiful Quarters program reflected both its ecological singularity and the ongoing political question of Puerto Rico's relationship with federal land management. The forest was devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017, five years after this coin's issue — a fact that has given the design unexpected resonance among collectors of territorial coinage.
