| Obverse description | Liberty seated facing left upon a rock, draped in classical robes, holding a pole surmounted by a Liberty cap in her right hand and resting her left hand upon a striped shield bearing the word LIBERTY on its band. Thirteen six-pointed stars are arranged around the periphery of the field, with seven to the left and six to the right of the central device. The date appears in the exergue below the seated figure. A dentilated border frames the entire design. |
