| Reverse description | The reverse presents large, boldly struck Naskh Arabic calligraphy filling the central field, recording the regnal year 22 of Shah Alam II's reign alongside the word 'jalus' (accession). The numeral 22 is rendered prominently in Eastern Arabic script. Decorative floral rosette devices flank the inscription in the upper field, while two six-pointed stars appear symmetrically in the lower exergue. A sweeping curved device, reminiscent of a scimitar or fish motif, underlies the main legend. The design is contained within a continuous beaded border consistent with Bengal Presidency hammered copper issues. |
