Hohenfriedeberg — now Dobromierz in southwestern Poland — was a small Silesian town whose name carried outsized military resonance: Frederick the Great's decisive 1745 victory over the Austro-Saxon forces was fought on its doorstep. By 1922, the town was issuing Notgeld in the chaotic interlude between the postwar inflation spiral and the eventual collapse of the Papiermark. The 1,25 Mark denomination is an odd one, reflecting the practical scramble to cover specific change shortages rather than any tidy monetary logic.
