Christian Louis ruled Celle from 1641 until his death in 1665, and his coinage reflects the slow monetary reconstruction of the Lower Saxon Circle following the Thirty Years' War. The 1/24 Thaler denomination — the Groschen equivalent — was the workhorse of everyday exchange in the northern German states, and Celle's output during these years fed commerce that had been strangled for decades by wartime disruption and Swedish occupation of key regional territories.
The Fiala reference places this among a tightly documented sequence from the Clausthal mint, which served as the primary striking facility for Celle's silver coinage drawing on Harz mountain ore.
