Beschrijving keerzijde Central field contains an oval cartouche or tablet inscribed with the denomination expressed as I/24/TALARA followed by the date of issue, all within a beaded or linear inner border. The surrounding circular legend reads SAC.ROM.IMP.ARCHIM.ET.ELECT., proclaiming Augustus II's dignity as Arch-Marshal and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire. The mint mark for the Leipzig Mint appears in the field. The composition of the reverse emphasizes the dual royal and imperial status of the issuer in a compact, well-structured baroque layout.

Aanvullende informatie

Augustus II secured the Polish throne in 1697 through a combination of bribery, military pressure, and — critically — his public conversion from Lutheranism to Catholicism, a prerequisite the Polish nobility refused to waive. These small silver grosze were among the first coins struck under his authority, with the Leipzig mint handling production during a period when his hold on Poland remained contested by a rival claimant, Jakob Sobieski. The Great Northern War, which erupted in 1700, forced Augustus into years of political crisis — Sweden's Charles XII briefly dethroned him entirely in 1706, installing Stanisław Leszczyński, suspending this issue's production mid-series.
