Jersey's fractional coinage largely escaped the wartime metal requisitions that stripped other British dependencies, but the occupation years tell a different story. Germany occupied Jersey from July 1940 until May 1945, during which the island's pre-war bronze coinage remained in circulation alongside German Reichskreditkassenscheine. No new Jersey coinage was struck during the occupation itself — the 1937–1947 date span of KM#17 brackets the entire period without a single coin produced under German control.
