Beschrijving voorzijde Youthful laureate bust of Louis XIV as a child facing right, with flowing long hair and draped in a mantle with armored pauldron visible at the shoulder, rendered in the Baroque style characteristic of Jean Warin's early royal portraiture. The effigy is boldly struck in high relief, occupying the majority of the coin's field. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, separated from the bust by a finely milled inner border. The portrait conveys the king's youth — he acceded to the throne at age four — while maintaining regal formality befitting a French sovereign.

Beschrijving keerzijde Centrally placed shield of France — azure semé-de-lis or — surmounted by an open royal crown composed of fleurs-de-lis and arches, rendered in high relief. The crowned arms fill the field and are flanked on the lower sides by the mint mark letter A (Paris). A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, incorporating the date 1643 at the top of the legend, with the full inscription running continuously around the milled inner border. The overall design is typical of Louis XIV's early coinage as established under the monetary reforms supervised by Jean Warin.
