| 表面の説明 | Central field displays the Portuguese royal arms composed of five escutcheons arranged in a quincunx pattern, each charged with five roundels (quinas) representing the five Moorish kings defeated at the Battle of Ourique, the whole framed within an inner beaded border. The surrounding marginal legend reads PHILIPVS D G REX PORTVGA in Latin capital letters, partially legible on the irregularly shaped flan, enclosed between the inner beaded circle and the outer rim. The design is executed in the bold, somewhat crude relief characteristic of hammered Portuguese silver coinage of the early seventeenth century. |

The overall composition is typical of the hammered silver coinage struck for Philip III of Portugal (Philip IV of Spain) during his reign over the Iberian Union, with the cross serving as the primary reverse type across multiple Portuguese denominations of this period. |
