| Descrizione del dritto | Central field occupied by a large quadripartite scalloped shield of elaborate Gothic form, divided by a cross into four sections bearing horizontal barry stripes alternating with a plain cross motif, emblematic of the arms of the Livonian Order and the Fürstenberg family. The shield is rendered in relief with boldly incised partition lines and decorative lobed outlines at the corners and base. Above the shield, the abbreviated date numerals '58' appear within a scrolled cartouche or arch at the top of the field. The flan is of irregular square shape, characteristic of the emergency coinage (Notgeld) struck at Wenden during the final years of the Livonian Order. |

This blank reverse is a defining characteristic of this emergency half-thaler issue, struck under the exigencies of the Livonian War, where speed of production precluded the use of a reverse die. The surface shows natural flow lines and minor die-contact marks consistent with a hammered flan. |
