| 正面描述 | Draped bust of Maximilian II Emanuel, Elector of Bavaria, facing right, his long flowing wig rendered in fine baroque detail with elaborate curls cascading over his armored shoulders. The effigy is boldly struck with high relief, displaying a cuirass with decorative elements visible at the truncation. The peripheral Latin legend encircles the bust, reading the Elector's full titles and abbreviated dignities, separated by stops. |

Maximilian II Emanuel was serving as Governor of the Spanish Netherlands when this half thaler was struck in Munich — an absentee elector whose military ambitions against the Ottomans had already earned him the epithet "the Blue Elector" after the Battle of Belgrade in 1688. The War of the Grand Alliance consumed Bavaria's finances through the early 1690s, and this issue dates to a period when the Munich mint was under considerable fiscal pressure to support his campaigns.
Hahn 198 is the standard reference for this type within the Bavarian series.
