The Madonna holds the Christ Child on her left knee, who raises his right hand in blessing, while she holds a sceptre in her right hand. The date 1694 and a star appear at the top of the field flanking the legend, with the devotional Latin inscription running around the full periphery: CLYPEVS OMNIBVS IN TE SPERANTIBVS (Shield to all who trust in Thee), referencing the Marian patronage of Bavaria. |
