Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing draped bust of King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria, wearing a military uniform with an elaborately decorated collar, engraved by Johann Leonhard Oexlein in a refined neoclassical style. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detailing in the curled hair and epaulette. A circular Fraktur blackletter legend surrounds the portrait reading MAXIMILIAN JOSEPH KÖNIG VON BAIERN, following the coin's inner border. The rim is milled with a fine toothed border.
