| Obverse description | Armored equestrian figure of John George I depicted in right profile, mounted on a rearing horse and brandishing a sword aloft, symbolizing his role as Imperial Vicar. The date 1619 is divided on either side of the horse's forelegs. In the lower field, a crowned oval Saxon electoral arms cartouche appears beneath the horse. The legend PRO LEGE ET GREGE ('For law and the people') encircles the design, interrupted by the figure, in bold hammered relief. Small floral ornaments adorn the lower field, consistent with early 17th-century Saxon minting style. |
