The Bohemian Revolt was at its peak, the Battle of White Mountain had just been fought in November 1620, and the Habsburg war machine required constant silver financing. Klagenfurt, as the mint of Inner Austria — Ferdinand's original hereditary domain before his election as Emperor — was pressed into heavier production precisely because Bohemian minting capacity was compromised by the ongoing conflict. Her#719 distinguishes this Klagenfurt striking from contemporaneous issues at Graz and Vienna.
