| Beschrijving voorzijde | Armored and draped bust of Emperor Ferdinand II facing right, wearing a ruffled collar, with a laurel-crowned head, fully contained within a beaded inner circle. The imperial effigy is rendered in high relief in the style of early 17th-century Austrian coinage. The obverse legend encircles the bust in Latin, identifying the ruler by name and his principal royal titles. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Ferdinand II's 1621 half thaler from Klagenfurt was struck at a moment of acute dynastic crisis. The Bohemian Revolt was at its peak, the Battle of White Mountain had just been fought in November 1620, and the Habsburg war machine required constant silver financing. Klagenfurt, as the mint of Inner Austria — Ferdinand's original hereditary domain before his election as Emperor — was pressed into heavier production precisely because Bohemian minting capacity was compromised by the ongoing conflict.
Her#719 distinguishes this Klagenfurt striking from contemporaneous issues at Graz and Vienna.
