Klippe production at Graz was almost exclusively tied to presentation and gift-giving functions at the Habsburg court — square-cut planchets required individual hand preparation and were never struck for routine circulation. Ferdinand II died in February 1637, making 1634 issues from his reign relatively late productions, struck when imperial patronage of elaborate presentation coinage was still active but the emperor's health was already declining.
Her#782 places this among Herinek's documented Graz klippe types, a series notorious for survivors in wildly varying condition due to their cabinet rather than pocket histories.
