The upper portion features a stylized foliate or crescent-like ornament above the mint name inscription. Below, the Arabic numerals render the Hijri date 1188, corresponding to 1774 AD. The overall design is compact and characteristic of Ottoman-Tunisian provincial gold issues of the late 18th century. A hole pierced at the top of the flan is visible, consistent with the obverse.
