Obverse description Central field features the elaborately interlaced crowned royal cipher of Christian VII, composed of two intertwined letter C's surmounted by a royal crown with ermine lining and cross finial. The denomination mark '1/2' appears to the left of the monogram and 'SP.' to the right, denoting half Speciedaler. A continuous Latin legend encircles the design, reading the king's full royal titulature. The monogram is rendered in high relief with fine calligraphic detail, occupying most of the coin's field.
