The central text and surrounding border legend are rendered in debased, nonsensical pseudo-Latin letterforms, characteristic of Gepid imitative coinage struck at Sirmium. The overall composition is enclosed within a beaded border, and the die cutting displays the irregular, hand-hammered quality typical of Germanic barbarian silver issues of the sixth century. |
