| Description de l’avers | Stylized bust facing right within a circular border, rendered in a highly schematic barbarian style characteristic of Lombard coinage. The effigy is depicted with a comb-like or feathered headdress or hair treatment shown as a series of vertical strokes, giving a striated appearance. The facial features are crude and abstracted, consistent with the devolved classical portraiture of the late 7th century Lombard series. Six pellets are arranged in the field around the bust, serving as the distinguishing element of this emission. The design is contained within a linear inner circle set against a plain field. |
