Beschrijving voorzijde Central field dominated by a bold, thick royal monogram of Perctarit, composed of intertwined letters forming the abbreviated legend PE Rx; the crossing element of the monogram is rendered by three dots arranged in an X formation. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle, surrounded by a beaded or raised border. The style is characteristic of late Lombard hammered coinage, with a compact, slightly irregular flan.

Aanvullende informatie

Perctarit ruled the Lombard kingdom twice — deposed in 661, he fled to the Avars and later to the Frankish court before reclaiming the throne in 671 and reigning until 688. Posthumous coinage issued in his name after his death reflects the Lombard practice of continuing to strike in a deceased king's name, likely as a conservative monetary gesture during politically unstable transitions.

The "thick monogram" variety distinguishes this piece from thinner die iterations catalogued separately by Arslan — a distinction that matters for attribution even at this vanishingly small weight.
