The crossed keys are the heraldic emblem of the Archbishopric of Trier. A Gothic Latin legend surrounds the inner circle, running along the coin's periphery. The overall composition is bold and well-centered, typical of hammered silver coinage of the Trier archbishopric in the mid-14th century. |
