The inscription reads 'Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Alamgir' — 'The auspicious coin of the Victorious Emperor, Alamgir' — attributing the issue to the Mughal emperor Alamgir II. The die-work is characteristic of the hammered coinage produced for the Malabar Coast under Bombay Presidency authority, with slightly irregular flan edges and bold, raised lettering. |
