| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a multi-line Persian legend in Naskh script, divided by a horizontal line into two registers. The upper register bears the opening portion of the royal titulature, while the lower register continues with the imperial name and epithet. The inscription reads 'Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Alamgir' — 'The auspicious coin of the Victorious Emperor, Alamgir' — attributing the issue to the Mughal emperor Alamgir II. The die-work is characteristic of the hammered coinage produced for the Malabar Coast under Bombay Presidency authority, with slightly irregular flan edges and bold, raised lettering. |
