| Aanvullende informatie |
Afonso V's long reign generated substantial administrative and monetary disorder, with multiple reals pretos issued across different mints under shifting weight standards — a direct consequence of chronic fiscal pressure during his costly campaigns in Morocco, including the taking of Alcácer Ceguer in 1458 and Arzila in 1471. The Lisboa emission bearing the 'L' mintmark is catalogued by Gomes as one of the more traceable varieties of this type, though attributing specific issues within such a long regal span remains genuinely difficult.
Copper coinage of this period circulated hard and was frequently hoarded in bulk by the poorest urban classes who had little access to silver.
