The Banco Comercial de Santa Fé was one of several provincial Argentine banks that emerged in the 1860s operating under looser regulatory frameworks than the national institutions in Buenos Aires. Denominating this note in Reales Plata Boliviana was a deliberate commercial choice — Bolivian silver coinage circulated widely across the interior provinces and was the trusted transactional currency of the region's traders and merchants, far more than any Argentine paper equivalent.
Provincial notes of this period from Santa Fé rarely survived in quantity; redemption rates were low and issuer lifespans often short.
