Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Ferdinand VII facing right, rendered in the armored colonial style inherited from the Charles IV portrait dies, occupying the central field. The circumferential legend reads FERDIND • VII • DEI • GRATIA • in Latin capitals, interrupted by the date at the bottom of the coin. A finely milled border frames the entire design.

Reverse description The quartered royal arms of Spain, displaying castles and lions with a central escutcheon, surmounted by an ornate imperial crown occupying the upper field. The shield is flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules, each wound with a scroll inscribed PLUS. The circumferential legend • HISPAN • ET IND • R • reads around the upper portion, with the mintmark NG and assayer initial M completing the legend on the left. A milled border surrounds the entire reverse.
