Obverse description Central field displays a yoke, the personal device of Ferdinand II of Aragon, rendered in bold relief within a beaded inner circle. The mint mark 'B' (for Burgos) appears in the lower field beneath the yoke. The surrounding legend in Latin is separated from the central device by the beaded border, running along the outer rim of the irregularly shaped flan. The overall style is characteristic of late 15th- to early 16th-century Castilian hammered coinage, with the design elements struck with varying depth due to the hand-hammering technique.
