Obverse description Central field occupied by the papal arms of Clement XI, an ornate baroque shield bearing the Albani family coat of arms surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys, flanked by elaborate acanthus scrollwork and foliate decoration. A six-pointed star appears prominently on the shield, with the papal insignia rendered in high relief. The circumferential legend reads CLEMENS XI to the left and P M ANN VIII to the right, separated by decorative stops. The entire design is executed in the rich baroque style characteristic of early eighteenth-century Roman coinage, with the coin's milled edge visible at the periphery.
