| Описание реверса | A scene depicting the interior of an iron forge, with a large power hammer or forge press dominating the left portion of the field, its massive mechanical form rendered in considerable detail. To the right, a muscular workman is shown stooped over an anvil or workblock, actively engaged in the ironworking process, evoking the industrial activity for which Wilkinson was renowned. The date 1787 appears in the exergue below the scene, and the entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The composition is an early and notable numismatic celebration of British industrial enterprise. |
