| Obverse description | Facing crowned bust of King John rendered in a schematic, Romanesque style, set within a large incuse triangle whose two sides extend to the coin's rim. The royal crown is depicted with fleurons above a flat band, and the king's face is shown frontally with stylized features. Two crescent moons appear in the upper field to either side of the triangle, a characteristic decorative motif of this Irish halfpenny series. The royal legend IOh ANN RЄX is distributed around the periphery of the flan, partially visible given the small module and frequent off-center striking. |

| Reverse description | A large incuse triangle dominates the reverse field, enclosing a crescent surmounted by a six-pointed star or mullet at its centre, referencing the moneyer's mark. Small mullets or stars appear in the angles formed by the triangle and the horizontal bar dividing the lower portion of the field. The moneyer's legend, naming Robert operating at Dublin, is distributed around the periphery in three abbreviated segments. The irregular flan edges and flat areas are consistent with the hand-hammered production technique of early thirteenth-century Irish coinage. |
