| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing diademed bust of John, Lord of Ireland, depicted in a crude but characteristically medieval style, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The effigy shows a stylized frontal head with diadem, typical of the Angevin-period Irish coinage. A Latin legend partially encircles the design, reading +IOHANNES DO, identifying the issuer as John Dominus. The flan is irregular and clipped, as is common with hammered halfpennies of this period, with some areas of the legend and beaded border lost to the coin's edge. |
